POPLAR TERRACES: Falls Church, Va |
The Washington Metropolitan area is witnessing unparalleled growth. The natural landscape is disappearing quickly. In this climate land development is inevitable, however the goal of this project is to preserve a connection with the land, balancing the natural with the man-made. Anna Herring purchased this 1.64-acre parcel and cottage in 1947, living there until her death in 1999. She loved nature and all living things. A gardener by choice, she labored tirelessly, caring for this land. Every effort has been made in the design to preserve the spirit of her efforts; the land transformed for future generations to appreciate and nurture. Winner 2008 Washington, D.C.
